ZS-SAR was the 1st of two 747-200 Combi’s for SAA, delivered new in 1980. It was leased to Garuda Indonsia in 1992 for 3 years, upon it’s return she flew straight to Hong Kong and the aircraft was converted to full freighter configuration and returned to serve SAA Cargo until 2000 when was sold to MK Airlines as 9G-MKJ; On 14th October 2004, while operating for MK Airlines, the aircraft crashed while attempting to take-off from Halifax Nova Scotia killing all 7 crew members.
